In relation to national standardization policy, general objectives are as follows:
Establishing partnership with public administration bodies together with active support to the policy of Government of Montenegro related to quality infrastructure development;
Adoption of Montenegrin standards (MEST) on the basis of modern, international and European standards, and on the basis of the requirements and recommendations of international and European standardization organizations;
Representation of Montenegrin standardization interests of Montenegro in regional, European and international organizations and standardization bodies, as well as the cooperation with other national bodies for standardization, especially ones from neighboring countries.
Related to the requirements for membership in international and European organizations, general goals are as follows:
Meeting legal, organizational and technical requirements for full membership in international and European standardization organizations;
Active participation in the work of international and European organizations and technical standardization bodies.
In relation to the users, general goals are as follows:
Equal representation of stakeholders in governing bodies of the Institute for Standardization of Montenegro;
Gathering all stakeholders and promoting consensus in the work of technical bodies of the Institute;
Engaging highly qualified experts as members of the technical bodies of the Institute;
Encouraging active participation of Montenegrin representatives in international and European standardization in areas of national interest;
Establishing, updating and maintaining standards’ databases and ensuring their availability to all stakeholders in accordance with defined rights of access;
Continuous improvement of modes for providing information;
Continuous promotion and encouragement of the use of standards;
Development of new services, e.g. education;
Assessment of compliance with Montenegrin standards (MEST).
Related to the development of the internal organization of the Institute, general goals are as follows:
Building a structured organization that performs its tasks effectively and efficiently and fulfills the obligations of the national standardization body;
Building an efficient infrastructure of advisory and technical bodies and adapting existing technical bodies to the future needs;
Creating rules, procedures and conditions for the efficient work of technical bodies in accordance with international and European rules;
Continuous upgrade of information and communication infrastructure together with application of new technologies in business processes.
